The Domenech is a residence for homeless and lower income seniors and is part of Common Ground's Brownsville Partnership to create more affordable housing in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. The new seven story building will contain a mix of one-bedroom and studio apartments, and will include a library/lounge, a multipurpose room and a large garden in the back. On-site support services will assist residents in maintaining their health and independence.
The Domenech will be LEED rated, and will incorporate environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient design, construction, operation, and maintenance practices.
The scope of work included the design of a high efficiency Chiller System with Fan Coil Units for the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Systems for the entire building, Electrical Power and Lighting Systems using Energy Star equipment where available, Plumbing System using water efficient fixtures, Sprinkler System and approvals of the new water services with the DEP Cross Connection Control Unit.
